Apolipoprotein A (APO A) is the core protein component of high density lipoprotein IFOL also knownasgoodeholesteroll. This protein unites with the lipids to give them a structural integrity, shield the hydrophobic lipoproteins at their center and transport lipids through the bloodstream. FOL plays a role of eliminating cholesterol by picking them from tissues and bringing them to the liver for either recycling or exacting. APO A activates the enzymes which help HDL pick up this cholesterol from tissues to be transported to the liver. At the end of the transport, APO A allows the receptors on liver to recognize and bind with FOL. This FOL transport, facilitated by APO A, is the only way for the tissues to eliminate excess cholesterol. This prevents the built-up of fatty plaque and atherosclerotic deposits which may lead to cardiovascular diseases.
